The analysis will review all of the significant components in the health care delivery system including payors, service providers and regulators. It will include a review of the negative and positive contributions of each, including Medicare, Medicaid, Hospitals/Medical Center, Providers, Pharma, Equipment manufacturers, Insurers & other suppliers and the interaction of each as to effect on cost of health care and long term outcome. Also addressed will be the drivers of health care costs and proposals to contain costs including, Insurance Exchanges in Utah and Massachusetts, Managed Care delivery systems such as the Geisinger Health System and the Cleveland Clinic and the Affordable Care Act.Finally, alternatives to prevent over utilization and take politics out of Health Care will be discussed.
Melvin Clouse is a visionary leader, researcher and a pioneer. His career spans more than 4 decades of cutting edge research and clinical contributions that have shaped our understanding of Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology. His leadership has had a lasting impact at the local, national and international level. He has served as a Chair in Radiology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and on the national stage he has served the American College of Radiology, American Board of Radiology, Radiological Society of North America and American Roentgen Ray Society. He is the recipient of several grants (NIH and non federal) and has published over 235 manuscripts and remains active in several multicenter international vascular imaging trails. His vision and subsequent outreach efforts resulted in invited lectures on various aspects of his research in Interventional Radiology in many parts of the world. He has now turned his attention to health care delivery and how to make it efficient cost effective and remove politics from the equation.
