Abstract :

The CDC refers to Infection Control measures as the actions aimed at preventing or stopping the spread of infections within a healthcare setting. These measures include an assessment of how infections can be spread and how they can be stopped as well as more detailed recommendations for known pathogens. There are many standard infection control precautions that healthcare facility has to maintain which include :Hand hygiene ,proper use of PPE ,Respiratory and cough hygiene ,safe handling of linen, Assessment and placement of infectious patients ,Care environment ,Proper disposal of needles ,Safe waste management .Promotion of a safety climate is a cornerstone of prevention of transmission of microorganism in healthcare. More than half of hospital acquired infections are preventable by strict infection control precautions. A multidisciplinary infection control committee that meets at least quarterly is recommended. This committee should include representatives from the medical and nursing staffs, hospital administration, and the personnel directly responsible for management of the infection prevention program. In a nutshell, we can say that infection control is in our hands.
