Aim: The aim of this study is to define and evaluate the California Critical Thinking Disposition Inventory (CCTDI) related factors in nurses working in a university hospital of intensive care units of CCTDI. Methodology: The population of the study consisted of 60 nurses. The sample size was 40 nurses who volunteered to participate in the study. The data were collected in 2012. Socio demographic Features Data Form and CCTDI, were used as data collection tools. This inventory is on inquisitiveness, open-mindedness, systematicity, analyticity, truth-seeking, critical thinking, self-confidence, and maturity. Statistical programs were used in the evaluation of data and numbers, percentage estimation, arithmetic mean, Kruskal- Wallis Test, t-test and Pearson correlation analysis were used. Results: Once the total score means are examined, it is seen that the mean score obtained by the nurses was 190.90 ?±20.23. CCTDI mean scores of the nurses were taken into the scope of the study which revealed that the mean score of the â??truth-seekingâ? subscale was 21.50?±5.62; the mean score of the â??Open mindednessâ? subscale was 36.95?±7.32; the mean score of the â??systematicityâ? subscale was 19.32?±3.56; the mean score of the â??Self-confidenceâ? subscale was 27.75?±6.02; the mean score of the â???°nquisitivenessâ? subscale was 34.47?±6.00. It was determined that there was no statistically significant difference between the nursesâ?? age, study years, incomes level, and education level with the CCDTI scale, means (p>0.05). Conclusion: This study revealed that the score of critical thinking in nursing disposition scale was low. Development of critical thinking disposition in nursing must be provided within the educational institution and outside the institution.
