This presentation will examine the physical and psychosocial risk factors of musculoskeletal injuries and the importance of combining intervention methods to maximize effectiveness. Examination of myths and facts regarding ergonomic intervention, chronic pain, stretching and work related injuries will help clarify program focus. In addition a practical selfdirected exercise program based on mechanical diagnosis and treatment interventions will be provided that can immediately be implemented at facilities.
Bill Hirschuber completed his Master?s Degree in Occupational Therapy from the College of St. Catherine. He has over 13 years? experience in ergonomics, injury prevention, rehabilitation, and work comp case management. He is currently the Ergonomics/Safe Patient Handling Coordinator at Park Nicollet Health Services.
