Purpose: Pain management and treatment, have a very important role because untreated pain has a great impact on patients and hinders their response to treatment and negatively affects their quality of life. The main purpose of this study was to examine the knowledge and attitudes of master nursing students towards pain management. Method: The method used during this study was conducted through an anonymous self-administered questionnaire regarding knowledge and attitudes for pain management which included students of scientific and professional nursing. The study data were collected during the academic year 2018-2019 at the Faculty of Medical Sciences in Tirana, Albania. Results: A self-administered questionnaire was used to collect data on knowledge and pain management in master nursing students. He sample size was 130 students and the average age of students in the study sample was 24.06 ± 1.5 years. Female students were 70.7% and 29.3% were male. The results obtained from the processing of questionnaires show that students showed a low level of knowledge about pain management where only 60% of students had knowledge about pain management in the pharmacological way and 20% of these students had knowledge about pain management in non-drug ways. Conclusions: From the data collected with the questionnaires, the results found determined that the students had a generally good level of knowledge about pain but knew little about its management. Pain assessment and management are an essential part of nursing care and master nursing students are the nurses of the future, it is important to ensure that these students receive the proper pain management education. This study highlights the need to include the subject of pain management in all university nursing curricula and to perform more internships in various pain treatment centers, especially for students who graduate with a master's degree so that these students can get as much knowledge as possible, that will improve the quality of life of patients.
