Introduction & Aim: Several surgical options have been reported and performed for radiculopathy, but for multilevel disease, the optimal surgical treatment remains controversial. The goal of this study is to evaluate the clinical outcomes and advantages of cervical laminoplasty for the surgical treatment of multilevel cervical radiculopathy. Method: Between January 2010 and December 2016, among 200 consecutive cases that underwent open-door laminoplasty, 36 cases which were performed for multilevel cervical radiculopathy were reviewed retrospectively in this study. The evaluation included the location and degrees of preoperative and final follow-up pain using a visual analog scale, subjective and objective alteration in radiculopathy pattern. The evaluation also included the assessment of NDI score and the degree of radiculopathy based on a modification of the study of Sampath, et al. Severity of pain, patient satisfaction, neurologic outcomes, functional status and disturbing ADL (Activities of Daily Living). Findings: Of the 36 patients, the degree of pain was improved from 8 to 2 using an analog scale. Pain severity was improved from 5 (horrible) to 2 (mild). Patient satisfaction was improved from four (dissatisfied) to two (satisfied). The number of neurologic outcomes was improved from three to one and most of them are posterior neck and shoulder discomfort. Functional status was improved from 3 (some) to 1 (all) and the number of disturbing ADL was improved from four to one. And NDI score was improved from 38 to 9 (all p<0.05). Conclusion: In the present study, clinical outcomes were improved for most of the multilevel cervical radiculopathy patients who underwent open-door laminoplasty. These results suggest that cervical laminoplasty is another surgical option for the multilevel cervical radiculopathy.
