Abstract :

Today, technology is developing rapidly and directs our lives to a great extent. These technological developments, which affect many areas of our lives, enable applications that are considered as turning points in healthcare to come to the fore. In the field of health, it is seen that surgical techniques are more affected by technological developments. Laparoscopic surgery is one of the most preferred surgical techniques. The main purpose of surgical interventions is to minimize the complications that may occur and to increase the quality of life of the individual. In this context, with laparoscopic surgery, such postoperative negativities were minimized as infection, pain, delay in the healing process, prolongation of hospital stay, etc., but hypothermia was found to be more common. Studies have determined that this is caused by the dry and cold CO2 gas used. In addition, complications caused by hypothermia were found to be more common. Studies have shown that minimizing hypothermia and the complications caused by hypothermia is only possible with different heating techniques such as peripheral, active and passive heating, and appropriate care. At this point, nurses, who come to the forefront with their professional care service, have great duties and responsibilities. Studies show that nurses can minimize the complications caused by hypothermia and hypothermia in a short time, and increase the quality of life of the individual, with appropriate interventions and quality nursing care.

Zehra Aydin is doctor (PhD) in the Department of Surgical Diseases Nursing. She has been working in Department of Surgical Diseases Nursing, Faculty of Health Sciences, Hitit University, Corum, Turkey since 2013.
