A persistent theory-practice gap is evident in nursing literature. Coordinating education and clinical practice in nursing has always been a challenge. One of the strategies for bridging this gap is both faculty and clinical nurses collaboration, what has been called “mutual learning”. A teaching innovation project (pilot project) is being carried out between our nursing department and the hospitals of Jaén (Spain). Four faculty nurses are spending time with clinical nurses, at the hospital, watching and learning of their day-to-day work with patients. The main objective is to bring together/combine what is taught in class with what is taugth in the clinical settings. Changes in the nursing curriculum are being made accordingly.
