The objective of the study is to assess the possibility of vesicular drug delivery systems for drug targeting. Novel vesicular drug delivery systems aim to deliver the optimum concentration of drug at a controlled rate during the period of treatment, and passage the drug to the site of action. Vesicular drug delivery systems have been used to improve the therapeutic index, solubility, stability and rapid degradation of drug molecule. Thus a number of novel vesicular drug delivery systems have been developed that allow drug targeting and sustained or controlled release of drug. Currently curcumin is one of the investigational new drug substances that have great clinical potential for treatment and prevention of wide varieties of human diseases including cancer. This presentation will review and discuss the various novel approaches involved in vesicular drug delivery system, which will bring the fascinating molecule of curcumin to the forefront of approved therapeutic agent for the treatment of various human diseases. Keywords: Vesicular drug delivery systems, drug targeting, Curcumin and lipoidal bio carriers.
