This presentation will highlight applying faculty experience to a global teaching assignment and how the international practice can enhance refinement of the faculty role in the United States. Dr. Heinze teaches full time on-line in the Masters of Nursing Education graduate program at Indiana Wesleyan University. In October 2017, Dr. Heinze received a short-term assignment teaching evidenced- based practice at the residency of the blended program offered by Uganda Christian University in cooperation with Bethel University. Concepts of nursing leadership, applications of theory, ethics and health policy as they relate to the faculty and nursing roles will be reflected upon and discussed with participants. One topic will be financial support for international experiences such as the Fulbright Specialist Program or other sources. Advice for preparation of global travel and scheduling for success will be provided. The crucial role of improved communication through an understanding of cultural differences will be included. Innovative teaching strategies for use in the on-site and on-line setting, with. particular attention given to infastructure and the available resources for successful application of techniques, will be presented.
