Abstract :

There are different approaches to the study of Life. The traditional approach is that Life is an emanation of matter, a kind of a ?disease of matter.? In this case, there are questions related to the anthropic principle of the Universe, its origin on Earth and evolution into intelligent Life. As Paul Davis said, ?there is not hinging in the known laws of physics to compel matter to organize itself into life.? Thus, the biocentric view takes an opportunistic stand. For example, Robert Lanza argues, ?The Universe arises from life, and not the other way around.? In this presentation, Life is considered as an independent entity, the organization of which is to withstand to degradation ? ?negenthropy.? The hypothetical nonlocal ?Bio-world? must be full of these activities. In this case, the origin and evolution of Life on Earth is a purposeful process that develops the original and eternal circulation of the intrinsic organization of the Universe. As ?information is a measure of organization? (Norbert Wiener), then this view has obvious parallels with the latest scientific paradigm, in which the cosmos of Life consist of two worlds, ?implicate order? and ?explicate order.? The objective of the theoretical science is to find out possible practical implications of the tremendous biological information processing tasks arising with the inexhaustible source of Life in the physical Universe.

Biography :

Sergey Gorsky graduated from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations in 1988. From his student years he has a keen interest in many aspects of the philosophy of science. Further, in his career as a free-lance writer, he was involved in studies of various philosophical problems, including the problems of life and consciousness. He published a book and a number of articles, essays on these issues. He was interested in the organization of biological systems. The given presentation regarding the biocentric view of the Universe is devoted to one of the pivotal questions of the System Biology.
