Phenol peels are one of the most efficient and in the same time one of the oldest existing efficient treatments of glogau 3 and 4 skin ageing. Formulas of deep peelings have recently been upgraded, lowering toxicity, allowing ambulatory treatment without hospitalization and avoiding the total skin depigmentation that was one of the problems of native formulas. Previous treatment with botulinic toxin enhances always the definitive result. Light phenols formulas, "easy phenol", have appeared, that allow a less toxical and a pain controlled treatment, without occlusion. Results of phenol peelings are dependent on the total amount of active product applied by surface. The consequence is that a light phenol cannot be as efficient compared to a deep phenol formula. Local application of deep phenol peels on eyelids or lips is also frequently used, for which I developed the terms of "chemical blepharoplasty" and "chemical cheiloplasty". New indications are emerging actually as local treatment of glabellar and preauricular wrinkles, post lifting scars, local treatment of lentigine. The post treatment period, as for lasers is a crucial period, nevertheless, actual immediate (first week) post phenol protocols allow to avoid the stress of this period and to shorten the period of erythema thanks to a new combination of components, able to strongly reduce the post treatment inflammatory reaction. Phenol peel becomes less toxical, induces less post peel in-comfort and does not need deep anaesthetic methods anymore. Three new phenol peels recently received a class II CE certification, making them the only legal phenol peels in Europe. Actual phenol peels are therefore becoming much less stressful compared to the past.
