COVID-19 has dramatically impacted the modern healthcare system across the continuum of care. This session will explore the role of procalcitonin (PCT) in SARS-CoV-2 to aid in the differential diagnosis of bacterial coinfection, severity of bacterial burden and disease evolutionto determine the need for antimicrobial therapy. Antibiotic stewardship during the COVID-19 pandemic is a critical part of the comprehensive strategy to improve patient outcomes and reduce long-term adverse effects secondary to rising antibiotic resistance.
