Abstract :

Biomedical waste must be segregated by trained axillary staff in a proper way because the infectious waste also can harm the staff as well, the biomedical waste must be disposal in different color bags and out of 100 the 56% people aware about this and There must be different color bags for the proper disposal of biomedical waste like red plastic bag, black plastic bag, yellow plastic bag, blue puncture proof container and the material segregated in these bags which differentiate the hazardous, non-hazardous, infectious or non-infectious material. The questionnaire was developed to assess and evaluate hospital waste management. Our survey covers biomedical waste disposal, but also practices and procedures, behaviors, safety and health services, waste disposal and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). We have 84% people who agreed that infection waste labeled with Bio-Hazard symbol some hospital staff dispose biomedical waste during hospital premises, dumping in bin or others collect in any authorized waste collection basket or bin. We got 48% ratio who maintain a department wise register for biomedical waste disposal. The average waste generation rate was consisting of 72% general health waste and 28% hazardous waste. Sharp and pathological elements accounted for 26% of the hazardous waste component. The best treatment for the biomedical waste used in institutions are landfill disposal 37% people used this method for the disposal of biomedical waste.
