Abstract :

Hepatocellular carcinoma is a common primary liver cancer and its incidence is on an increase. Surgical resection and transplantation are considered as the gold standard curative treatment options but less than 20% patients are surgical candidates because of advanced liver disease and/or co-morbidities. Various interventional radiological procedures have been developed and intensively investigated for the treatment of inoperable HCC. This article summarizes the various interventional radiological treatments in HCC including patient selection, procedural considerations, and response evaluation. Transarterial chemoembolization, radioembolization, and radiofrequency ablation will be discussed.

Biography :

Sameer Rehman, MD, MBA is a Radiology Resident Physician at Hartford Hospital in Connecticut. He is pursuing a fellowship in Interventional Radiology at Stanford University. He aims to improve healthcare delivery by developing an efficient healthcare model via research and innovation. he has written several research papers and book chapters in disciplines of Surgery, Radiology, Public Health, and Health Care Economics. His clinical interest lies in Interventional Radiology/Oncology.
