The optimization of the citizen quality of life (QoL) and the quality of services (QoS) still represents the main challenge of the process that leads a city towards the so-called smarter city. Designing and implementing innovative digital solutions by use of high technology-based instruments able to collect, analyze and obtain value from a large amount of data generated by several sources, such as IoT devices, sensor networks, wearable devices as well as sensor grids, widespread within the cities, represent the value-added of the evolutionary process to reach the goal. Furthermore, creating synergies and integrating different enabling technologies and informative platforms, also represents an essential step forward in order to obtain the optimization of the above-mentioned services and quality of life. The smart city involves the implementation of digital strategies that must be necessarily people-centered and lead into high technology-based innovations to build more capacities and opportunities. In this scenario, the process involved in the transformation of the data (e.g. collected by IoT devices) into useful information will be treated and analyzed in order to identify which are the main actors responsible of this evolutionary process.
