The diverse medical potential of Cannabis is predicated on the complex chemical profile, comprising hundreds of secondary metabolites including cannabinoids, terpenes and flavonoids. Environmental and growing conditions such as light, temperature, mineral nutrients and water availability affect plant development and function, including synthesis of secondary metabolites in Cannabis. Understanding plant response to environmental and cultivation conditions is the focus of current research and the information obtained is of importance for directing agro hi-tech production for the Cannabis market. We have identified physical, and chemical conditions which affect the chemical profile in Cannabis, these will be presented in the talk as well as breakthrough insights concerning standardization of the chemical profile.
