Abstract :

Purpose: This study aimed to assess research trends in nursing education pertaining to the care of elderly with dementia using text mining analysis. Methods: Relevant articles were identified using PubMed (which includes more than 26 million citations for biomedical literature), life science journals, and online books. Citations also included links to full-text content from PubMed Central and publisher websites. Search terms were Dementia, Nursing student, and Education. Articles containing these terms in their titles were analyzed using text mining software. The program provides a map of related words, with the size of the relational line reflecting the strength of the relationship. Results: A total of 62 articles were identified during the period spanning 2007 to 2016. Mapping yielded two wedges: Students and care. Dementia, nursing student, and education were centered in these wedges. The wedge students was associated with nursing and knowledge and questionnaire. The wedge care was associated with residential, perceived and learning, aged, nurses, undergraduate, placements, and interprofessional, and practice, evaluation, interprofessional education and Alzheimer�s disease. Conclusions: We identified two wedges (students and care) by analyzing articles with text mining software. Students in wedge 1 pertained to research on dementia. Care in wedge 2 pertained to interprofessional care or residential care in dementia care. We conclude that research of dementia and interprofessional care or home care.

Miwa Yamamoto is a PhD Doctor of Nursing, now she is a Professor of Department of Ault and Elderly Nursing, School of Health Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, Tottori University. She got her Master of Nursing at Graduate School of Nursing, Osaka Prefecture University, Doctor's degree (PhD) at Osaka University graduate school of Medicine.
