Abstract :

Objective: To explore the demands of pension service for the Oldest-Old in urban community. Methods: A purposive sampling method was used to select 16 elders in 6 communities of Jinan. A face-to-face semi-structured interview was conducted with the 16 respondents. The data were analyzed with phenomenological analysis. Results: Four themes were extracted including economic demand, daily life care service demand, medical and nursing care service demand, and mental support demand. Conclusions: Understanding the pension service demands of the elders can provide the basis for service institutions of the community to carry out the comprehensive pension services, to improve the capability and level of community service, and meet the demands of pension service for the community elderly better.

Biography :

De-shan Liu, MD, PhD is a Professor of Shandong University, Director of the Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Qilu Hospital of Shandong University, President of Shandong Geriatric’s Research Society, and a member of the editorial board of “International Journal of Nursing”. He has been in the field of senile disease for more than 20 years, especially in the field of diabetes and its complications, cardiovascular disease and advanced cancer. The main research direction is the comprehensive prevention and treatment of senile medicine. He has obtained fruitful research results and published more than 100 articles in core journals.
