Abstract :

Background: Chronic renal failure can cause renal function of patients cannot be cured completely back to normal can be continued even worse. Patients with chronic renal failure is life can be maintained by hemodialysis or kidney transplantation, which should be supported with proper home care such as food arrangements that must be followed, this effort to be executed properly, the role of the family cannot be ignored chronic renal failure is a disorder function of renal with increase of urea level in the blood. The therapy of this disease today is by used dialysis (hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis) which needed expensive cost. Thus, its very necessary to found new method for decrease the urea level. As specially lavement therapy. Aim: This study aimed to know about the effect of lavement to decrease the blood urea level of chronic renal failure patients. Method: This study used quasi experiment with pre-test and post-test with control group design. The chronic renal failure patient took with purposive sampling techniques consist of 15 people for control and 15 people for treated group. T-test was applied to analyze the data. Result: The average of blood urea level before and after treated by three days lavement are 257.40 and 355.98 respectively. Thus, the average of blood urea level before and after in control group are 353.86 and 398.97 respectively. Base on the t-test the difference of blood urea level before and after treated by three days levement, found that t value was 0.309 (p=0.003). Thus, the difference of blood urea level before and after three days in control group, found that t value was -2.157 (p=0.025). Thats mean the lavement has an effect to decrease the blood urea level of chronic renal failure patients significantly. Conclusion: The lavement has an effect to decrease the blood urea level of chronic renal failure patients. wtang@mail.cgu.edu.tw
