Abstract :

This presentation reviews the effects of both magnetic pads and the use of the eight extra vessels in end of life care, (published case study) and in a more formal study involving 50 babies focusing on growth and development. This research in the neonatal intensive care unit provided insight to the possible benefits of acupuncture/bio-magnetic treatment in a unique clinical population. Both this case study and larger study explore a novel approach in the treatment of the fragile neonate employing a needless, bio-magnetic treatment application. In the case study - a 26 week old child dying with advanced bronchial dysphagia was provided palliative care. During the course of care, in addition to pain relief, the patient exhibited significant changes in blood oxygen saturation levels and acceleration of growth. This bio-magnetic treatment protocol was later applied to a healthier neonatal population to observe the effects on growth and development. Here we saw a different set of effects that where less dramatic but perhaps equally as relevant. This presentation explores the rational of the use of a bio-magnetic protocol on the eight extra vessels and its apparent regulation of automatic function. It will explore the theoretical rational in its design and the utility of its application for in a more general population/clinical setting. moranjames@aol.com
