Abstract :

For decades a myriad of fillers have been used, almost all of which were abandoned as a result of serious complications and deformities. Ever since, the medical world has been searching for the �ideal filler�. Finally, in 2003 with the advancement of medical technology, Hyaluronic Acid (HA) arrived and received FDA approval, the wait was finally over�.HA appeared to meet all the criteria of an ideal filler: easy to use, relatively safe, required no testing, caused no allergic reaction, gave good results and above all it was dissolvable. Soon, with its widespread use, unexpected complications began to surface. The author presents his views and experiences on how to tackle and most importantly prevent these issues.

Biography :

Dr. Tariq Saeed is the renowned Bahraini, Plastic, Aesthetic and Laser surgeon who has been in plastic surgery practice since 1983 and trained in Ireland, UK and the USA. Dr. Tariq holds fellowships in surgery from both the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and Edinburgh. He holds higher Fellowships in Plastic Surgery from Ireland and the University of Miami in the USA. Dr. Tariq is an assistant professor of Surgery at the Arabian Gulf University in Bahrain and is an external examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland.
