There are 3-4 million persons in Germany alone affected by chronic wounds.The main reasons for the development of this cause are changes in demographic transition and the resultant morbidity. Chronic wounds and the care of delineate a worldwide challenge for all involved. Some of the problem areas emphasized below The affected: The patients suffer in various aspects, in regards to sometimes years of life suffering with different therapy attempts behind them. They have pain suffer from uncontrollable wound odor, decreased mobility and sleeping disorders. Besides that, theirindependence and their social life is hugely impaired. The therapist: Due to the complexity of wound management in relationship to the grave underlying diseases like diabetes mellitus or diseases of the coronary system like PAVK or CVI, the demands in hygienic requirement and challenges are very high for the treating doctors and wound manager. Interdisciplinary Collaboration: The cooperation either interdisciplinary or inter professionally is a difficult challenge. Deficits result from lacking standards and information, absent or inefficient communication shortage in holistic concepts and deficiencies in interdisciplinary collaboration. Conclusions: Wound care is not the sole application of dressings, many factors have to be addressed.Wound management is a multi professional approach, the application of standards and professional documentation is a must in modern requirements in wound management.
