In the context of nursing education, there is equitable emphasis on two aspects of competencies namely clinical nursing skills and theoretical nursing knowledge. The practice of clinical nursing skills is sometimes seen as the capstone of the nursing education process. Nurse educators seek to equip nursing students with nursing skills through the age-old art of practice. Some of these practices take place through indirect experience of real clinical settings. There are various methods of nursing practice contents have been produced in recent years from 2010 onwards. One common alternative to the observational approach is the usage of Nursing Skill Videos (NSV) as a complementary educational tool for clinical nursing skills seeks to drive the importance of hands-on practice and competency. The NSVs seek to bridge the gap of theoretical nursing education and is meant to be a refresher and confidence booster for students after having seen the actual skill performed by a nurse educator. This qualitative study intended to understand the issues and challenges students face in order to improve the way we produce the NSVs. The future NSVs will ensure a defined standard, therefore to minimize the procedural and methodological inconsistencies in teaching of nursing skill laboratory module. Understanding the issues or challenges of NSVs on nursing students learning may validate the need for NSVs to be a mainstay of nursing education and regularly updated based on the feedback from the nursing students who are the main users of NSVs via focus group discussions.
