Herbal drugs have been known for centuries by ancient people as the only remedy for their illnesses. In modern medicine, herbal drugs are used not only as the source of medicines including the most known anticancer drug Taxol and the Nobel Prize awarded antimalarial artemisinin but also as the scaffold for the development of novel drugs. On the other hand, natural drugs are produced by plants for special purposes including protection and/or growth regulations. However, different environmental habitats cause the chemical evolution of natural drugs even within the same genotype. Here we reported that novel chemical compounds were produced from plants growing under an arid condition of the UAE. The identified chemicals were never reported from these plants. Moreover, the identified compounds showed great potential medical activities including anticancer and antimicrobial.
