Dr. Aureliusz Kolonko has received his PhD in 1998. He studied at Medical University of Silesia in Katowice during the period of 1987-1993. Currently, he is working as Associate Professor in Department of Nephrology, Endocrinology and Metabolic Diseases at Medical University of Silesia. His research has included the nephrotoxicity of radio contrast media and wide variety of topics connected to the hemodialysis and kidney transplantation: the complications of these procedures, the relation of dental health and periodontitis with the left ventricular hypertrophy and transplanted kidney outcome, and the utility of Doppler ultrasound as the diagnostic and prognostic measure of early and late kidney graft function and patient's outcome. Based on this research and fellowship training he has received several awards and honors of his University, as well as the Polish Transplantation Society and Polish Ultrasonographic Society. He is serving or had served as expert reviewer for Nephrology Dialysis Transplantation Journal. He has authored 38 research articles, his latest IF is 53.48. He is a member of Polish Society of Nephrology, Polish Transplantation Society and Polish Ultrasonographic Society, European Dialysis Transplantation Association and European Society of Organ Transplantation.
