Research Interest

The major components of my research interests are: 1. Characterization of the .resistance mechanisms of Enterobacteriaceae to antibiotics 2. Screening of extended spectrum β-lactamase (ESBL), metallo-β-lactamase (MBL), and AmpC plasmid mediated β-lactamases in Enterobacteriaceae and Pseudomonas. 3. Phenotypic and genotypic characterization of ESBL, MBL and AmpC. 4. Genetic basis of resistance mechanisms in Enterobacteriaceae, Pseudomonas and Acinetobacter species. 5. Analysis and prevalence of plasmid mediated quinolone resistance such as qnr, aac(6)-Ib-cr, qepA genes. 6. Role of mobile genetic elements that enhance mobilization of the resistance genes. 7. Investigation of methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA).
