Biography

1992: Master in Chemistry at the University of Rome “La Sapienza” studying the potentiality of the Instrumental Nuclear Activation Analysis applied to analytical problems. Prof. E. Cardarelli and Dr. A. Moauro. 1997: Ph.D. in Chemical Sciences at the University of Rome “La Sapienza” investigating the chemical composition and nutritional power of the blue-green algae Spirulina platensis as a “superfood” for the developing countries. Proff. L. Campanella and G. Crescentini. 1997-1998: Post-Graduate Researcher at the Universty of California, Irvine (USA) studying the separation of non-methane compounds and the halocarbons and their behavior in atmosphere. The year was spent at the Rowland’s Laboratory. Prof. Rowland was awarded with the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1995 for his study on the ozone depletion (the Rowland and Molina theory) September 1997: participation in the SONEX project funded by NASA: determination of hydrocarbons in troposphere. 1998: “Group Achievement NASA Award” for his important support in the SONEX Program 1999-now: Researcher at the INAIL Research Center. Dr. Avino is involved in the Air Chemical Laboratory: his studies are devoted to different aspects of the atmospheric pollution with main regards to the characterization of both residential (urban and suburban) and industrial sites at high risk 2003: “Environmental Sapio Award” for his research in the environmental field and in particular in the atmospheric particulate matter problems (characterization, physical and chemical composition, health effects, etc.). 2002-2005: Unit Responsible for ISPESL in the European Project (FP VI) “Methodology to develop Acute Exposure Threshold Levels (ACUTEX) in case of chemical release” (P.I. dr. Annick Pichard, INERIS, France): in the implemetnation of the “Seveso II” Directive, the project would be increase the methodologies, softwares and guidelines to establish acute exposure levels in case of accidental release of toxic chemical substances. 2004-now: Professor of Analytical Chemistry at the University of Molise, Campobasso. 2005-now: Professor of Environmental Chemistry and Cultural Heritage at the University of Rome. Dr. Avino attends to many national and International Committee Panels for problems connected with environmental efforts. Dr. Avino received his professional education as Chemist in 1993 and he is a technical advisor for some courts and industries. Since 1992 dr. Avino is a Member of the Italian Chemical Society (SCI) (Analytical Chemistry Division and Environmental Chemistry and Cultural Heritage Division). Since 2006 dr. Avino is a Member of the National Industrial Hygienist Association (AIDII) Dr. Avino was part of the Organizing Committee of different National Conferences in Analytical and Environmental Chemistry,
