Rafael Villalba Montoro has received his M.D degree from School of Medicine, University of Córdoba, Spain in 1983 and Ph. D degree from School of Medicine, University of Córdoba, Spain in 1987. He has worked as Research fellow in Department of Microbiology, School of Medicine, Córdoba University. He is responsible person of Immunohematology Unit of the Regional Blood Transfusión Center of Córdoba from 1992 and also responsible person of Tissue Establishment of Córdoba according to European Directive (2004/ 23/EC) and Spanish legislative framework (RD 1301 / 2006) from 2006. He is the Technical Director of Advances Therapies Unit of the Regional Blood Transfusion Center of Córdoba from 2007. He is the member of Ethical Commitee for Clinical Research in Córdoba. He is the founder member of the Spanish Association for Tissue Banking (AEBT) and President of that society between 2002 – 2006. He has been author for more than thirty articles/books. He is the member of advisory commitees of National and regional Transplant organisations for tissue Banks: Accreditation, Inspections, Biovigilance, Surveillance, etc. He is having collaboration with International Atomic Energy Agency to implement tissue establishment in South America (Lima Peru 2011) and he is an EUSTITE Member. He is the reviewer of scientific articles of Cell and Tissue Banking.
