Dr. Xiaohua He is currently a Research Molecular Biologist at the Foodborne Toxin Detection and Prevention research unit in the Western Regional Research Center (WRRC), USDA-ARS, Albany, California. Dr. He received her Ph.D. in Plant Pathology from University of California, Riverside and had Post-doc experiences at Purdue and Cornell Universities. Her researches have focused on development of molecular tools (recombinant toxoid and monoclonal antibodies) and technologies for rapid, accurate, and sensitive detection and quantification of zoonotic pathogens and toxins in food, environment and clinical samples; purification and characterization of toxins; development of animal models to study toxicokinetics; investigation of the mechanisms of toxin synthesis and its interaction with host cells. Dr. He’s 14 research inventions have been licensed by commercial companies. Based on these research, she has received the 2015 USDA FLC Far West Region Outstanding Technology Development Award. She is serving as an academic editor and editorial board member of several reputed journals like Toxins and Industrial Crops and Products and expert reviewers for many journals. She has authored over 70 journal articles and book chapters, one patent, and three pending patents.
