Anti parasitic agents are drugs used in the treatment of parasitic infestations. Parasites can live on or in a host . Parasites include Helminths: nematodes, cestodes, trematodes and etc,Protozoa, Amoeba and Ectoparasites includes fleas, lice etc.
Parasites refer to microscopic unicellular protozoa, multicellular helminths which may reach large dimensions, and arthropods which comprise diverse organisms. Human parasites include protozoa, flatworms, roundworms and ectoparasites such as ticks, fleas, lice, and mites. They cause diseases such as malaria, trichomoniasis and Leishmaniasis. Parasitic diseases affect hundreds of millions of people worldwide. Some parasitic diseases (dracunculiasis, onchocerciasis and so on) are on the way to eradication.
