Biological activity also called pharmacological activity describes the beneficial or adverse effects of a drug on living matter. Activity depends on the ADME (Absorption, Distribution, Metabolism, and Excretion). When a drug is a complex, biological activity is exerted by the substance's active ingredient or pharmacophore. Biological activity can be altered by the other constituents.
The Absorption, Distribution, Metabolism and Elimination all influence the drug levels and kinetics of drug exposure to the tissues and hence influence the performance and pharmacological activity of the compound as a drug.
