Chip stands for Chromatin immunoprecipitation, a technique used to investigate interaction between proteins and DNA in the cell. The main aim is to determine whether specific proteins are associated with specific genomic regions like transcription factors on promoters or the DNA binding sites and cistromes. It also determines the specific location in the genome indicating the target of histone modifiers.
