Cytotechnology can be defined as the microscopic interpretation of cells to detect cancer and other abnormalities by examining the samples collected from uterine cervix (Pap test), lung, gastrointestinal tract or body cavities.
It basically examines collected from the uterine cervix (Pap test), lung, gastrointestinal tract or body cavities. These specimens are evaluated by Cytotechnologists on glass slides using microscopes to determine whether the specimen is normal or abnormal. The abnormal specimens are further sent for medical diagnosis.
