Dementia is a general term in describing decline in mental ability and it is not a specific type of disease. It is a broad category of brain diseases not a particular part or organ associated with a decline in memory or other thinking skills severe enough to reduce a person’s ability to perform everyday activities. Vascular dementia which occurs after a stroke is the second most common dementia type. They are many other conditions that can cause symptoms of dementia including thyroid problems and vitamin deficiencies. Dementia is caused by damage to brain cells. Damage of brain cells interferes with the ability of brain cells to communicate with each other normally, thinking, behaviour and feeling can be affected. Most changes in the brain cause dementia are permanent and sometime it worsen over time, thinking and memory problems caused by depression, medication side effects, Excess use of alcohol, Thyroid problems, Vitamin Deficiencies
