Interleukin-22 is a recently described IL-10 family cytokine that is produced by T helper 17 TH cells, T cells, NKT cells, and newly described innate lymphoid cells. In addition interleukin -22 regulates host defense at barrier surfaces. Interleukin -22 primarily targets nonhematopoietic epithelial and stromal cells, where it can promote proliferation and play a role in tissue regeneration. Immunology is the science concerned with the protective reactions of the body, or those reactions aimed at preserving the body's structural and functionally integrity and its biological individuality. Immunology is abroad and rapidly growing biological discipline which started as a branch of medical biology.
