Endometriosis is the abnormal growth of cells similar to those that form the inside or lining the tissue of the utrerus, but in location outside of the uterus. It is a common condition with a varied phenotype. Due to progesterone resistance and dysregulated cytokine production symptomatic cases have been associated in both ectopic and eutopic endometrium. It can be diagnosed based on symptoms of pelvic pain, infertility, cramping or pain during bowel movements or urination.
