Respiratory critical care deals with various diseases involving in respiratory tract system. It is related to intensive care medicine. It involves in management of patients with mechanical ventilation for life support. Physicians are trained for respiratory critical care termed as Pulmonologists.
In recent decades, no branch of medicine has made more progress than critical care. Important advances include: technological developments to overcome single-organ failure (for example, the development of respirators and extracorporeal oxygenation to treat acute lung failure)
