Thyroid cartilage is the cartilage that located in front of larynx and above the thyroid gland. It consists of two parts, which extended up to middle part called as laryngeal prominence, also called the Adam's apple. It functions as it protects vocal cords.
The thyroid cartilage is formed of two approximately quadrilateral plates (called laminae) that are joined anteriorly (in the front) at an angle of from 90° to 120° to create a prominence in the neck.
